The personal website of Dan Webb, web developer and consultant
I've had alot of thoughts along this line for a while but now someone has written it down. If you're considering using PHP for anything other than a very simple system read this and think again.
I think the web standards community embraces PHP far too much. It's fine for your blog but in reality it's rarely used for anything much bigger. After all, we aren't hobbiests are we? We are supposed to be professionals that are as capable of working on large e-Commerce sites as we are making random image rotators for our personal websites. My advice, if your interested in being a professional web developer, stop farting around with PHP and learn J2EE or .NET. You'll get a job that way.
Anyway, I digress, read that article anyway. It's interesting.
